Paesaggio is a periodical publication. Each edition comprises a collection of landscapes by different artists, in form of text and without using im- ages. Texts/landscapes may assume different forms: artworks in form of a text, documents, notes, dialogues. The project aims at bearing witness to the way contemporary artists relate to landscape (intended as genre, subject of research, vision/vista, history...) today, without using images – only words.
This issue has been guest-edited by Hans Ulrich Obrist. The selection of the authors is strictly connected to the 2011 Serpentine Gallery Garden Marathon, the sixth in the Gallery’s Marathon series curated by Obrist. The event explored the concept of the garden. A product of the creative encounter between the man-made and the natural, between order and disorder, the garden can offer productive metaphors for the interactions between human life and time, care, thought or space.
